"OF GIANTS AND CASTLES..."

"The recollection of such reading as had delighted him in his infancy, made him always persist in fancying that it was the only reading which could please an infant… 'Babies do not want (said he) to hear about babies; they like to be told of giants and castles, and of somewhat which can stretch and stimulate their little minds."

~Mrs. Thrale~Anecdotes of Samuel Johnson 1786

Remembering childhood fantasia grows more difficult as we age. Day-dreamy fairytales that cater to the princess inside can still be found in the online store of today's artisan. Her name is Michelle Palmer and she lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her husband and two preschool age kids.

She states, "I am stay at home mom with a master's in education. As a crafter I am inspired by my kids, of course, and by literature and history! I love to read just about anything from fantasy to the classics. The fantasy comes thru in the tutu dresses I think, because they are so dreamy and have an other world quality to them."

Michelle is also inspired by her parents who are seasoned crafters, who design and make custom furniture pieces and are collaborating on a few pieces which will be featured in her shop very soon. Check out her custom tea table (featured here) and nursery furniture, just to name a few.

Well, that's it for another week. It's been lovely here on the Big Island of Hawaii...we're finally getting some wonderful sunshine after a long rainy stretch. I drove to the other side of the Island yesterday and had the joy of watching a native Hawai'ian Nene Goose glide across my path. It was a wonderous sight.

Magic is everywhere...if we listen to the whispers. Mahalo once again - see you next week!!
